Winter is slowly setting in here and soon the local road we drift on will be filled up with skier/snowboader traffic. That leaves me about 2 weeks to utilize it and smoke off the giant 235's in the rear. Once I accomplish that goal I will be putting this thing on it's nuts.

Bought some ssr mk1's the other day.

I'm pretty sure i'm gonna sell the cressida so I basically bought these wheels because of how awesome they are and because it was a pretty good deal, plus they were local. Weird stuff.
Anyways, sizes are 14x10-38 and 14x12-38. Pic is with just the 10's cause the rears are straight bonkers.

Enough car stuff though. Next stop, CHOPPERTOWN.

I decided to test fit the new front bumper for fun. Excuse the hideous oxidation on the hood. I'm cleaning out the garage to get the car in (it'll be a long time before it's ready) and they were chip sealing the road in front of my house. Well it ended up at my church parking lot for a few weeks. Like an idiot I parked it at the edge of the lot (the spot I chose is tucked behind a building so almost hidden) which meant my car saw three weeks of hard water from the sprinklers. Good thing I'm painting it soon.

By the way, this is properly mounted. It's not just sitting there.

I just got temporarily banned from zilvia a few days ago because i posted a video of street drifting. While looking for something to pass the time at work I found Teddy's build on NICO (his blog is The Life of a Soul Drifter) and it's inspired me to update the blog. I'm generally the one to keep quite.... (if you know me this isn't true but I guess it is on the internet) about what I'm doing but whatever.

Okay, to start out I bought this last May from a local guy for a good price.

I've had the parts for the swap (and a little more) since February. Car stuff with me takes forever. I'm currently just waiting on a premade harness from WiringSpecialties and then my motor will be in and (hopefully) running within a week or so. Hopefully the harness comes soon. I decided to have BK Industries do the swap. I know it's not the cool thing to do and I didn't plan on having someone else doing my swap but I've been super busy lately and I realized that if I want to have a competitive car, I want to make sure everything is perfect. Plus, if you couldn't already tell, it would take me 4 years to finish the swap at this rate.

KSport hooked me up with some Slide Kontrol coilovers and a hydraulic ebrake for a great price.

The coilovers will be going on next week and the hydro brake will probably go on during the swap.

I used some of the miata money to buy some wheels. I'm really stoked on these.

Lastly (for now at least) I picked up all the aero from BH's car after he sold it. So I've got DMAX type I front, type III sides and rear, hood, front and rear fenders, roof spoiler (which I'll be selling for an Origin), and the ganadors.
That's pretty much all the big stuff for now. There's been a lot of changes, hiccups, and confusion with my build and where I want it to go but I think it's finally starting to come together.

PS Be on the look out for a post from Pete. He just sold his WRX and bought a new car that he's doing work to.

I picked up a new daily to get me to work while I consolidate my 3 s chassis' into 1 s chassis.

It also will come in handy when going to the mountains, the snow, and taking my 8 kids to

soccer practice.

On the way to FormulaDrift Seattle we stopped a $1 store. When I came out I had
acquired a few new stickers.

As always, I've got plans for it. Let's see if half of those pan out. So far it's stock other
than the STi springs and impreza struts I put on it.

FD Seattle 2011

Last thursday Derek, Josh, Charlie, Kyle, Seth, and myself packed up and hit the road to Seattle to attend round 5 of Formula Drift. For Derek and I this was not the first time we had attended to this event, but for the rest of the crew this was a whole new experience. We made the trek and ended up getting to Everett in the late evening. The first thing we all wanted to do was adventure into downtown Seattle and check out the sights.

There is no real point in specifying what photos are from practice day or competition day so I'm not even going to try. We spent the next two days at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington, we saw a grip of cool cars and a ton of amazing driving.

This S14 is my idea of the perfect S-Chassis.

This R32 was a quiet show stealer. It sat all day across from the Cake Face Clothing booth. With a set of very aggressive VS-KF's it was one of my favorite cars at the show.

This pair of S2000's had me coming back all day. The cars contrasted one another perfectly. One white with polished, The other black with mag blue. I would not hesitate to say these cars had the most aggressive static fitment in the Fatlace One of One show.

This is William Bakajin's STI. This thing is insane. The wheels are 18x10.5 Volk TE-37's, and hiding behind those are a set of 380mm rotor 8 pot brembo brakes. The Do-Luck trunk add's a unique feel to the car. This thing is crazy aggressive and the attention to detail shocked me.

Here we have out 1st and 3rd place winners, Dai Yoshihara and Fredric Aasbo. They both put on an amazing show in the final 4. With Chris Forsberg coming in 2nd it was an amazing show of driving talent.

Overall Seattle was an awesome time. We had a great group of friends lookin at some bitchin cars. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I think i speak for everyone when I say Seattle can be expecting us back next year, it never disappoints.

I'm not sure what I'll get next but I guess you learn from your mistakes. I had big plans for the car that never panned out. I sold the grids with intentions of finding some gangster longchamps or something, mistake number 1. I should have at least kept them until I had new wheels. The next mistake was taking off the hardtop and being too lazy to fix it. I should have kept it jimmy rigged on. The last thing I should have done was take off the diffuser during the snow. I didn't really think that one through. Well here are some pics from the day I sold it.

Thanks to the great design of whiteline sway bar mounts my oil pan got completely hammered and starting leaking 3qts a day. Waited 3 weeks for another one and then spent a very large chunk of my saturday putting it in. Totally not worth all of the trouble so a skid plate will soon be made.

The first part of my trip to SoCal was great. Got to spend time with my brother and friends. Got some good food, went to a swap meet, and visited UCLA. The second part was.... an adventure. I made it to Vegas and ended up staying there about 3 hours longer than planned. One rear fender was about 1/4" above the tire while stopped and the other was literally on it. The previous owner gave me a jack but the Racelands have so much travel, the wheel wouldn't leave the ground. I went to Home Depot and bought a few 2x4's but couldn't get them to work. I ended up pulling the wheel into a gutter in the middle of the parking lot which let me get the wheel off the ground. The lugs were torqued on so tight I couldn't get them to budge with a tire iron so I had to raise the coil through the wheel/wheel well. I raised it about 2 inches on the coil which added to about 1/4" wheel gap when compressed. This a shorter version of the Vegas story.

I get back on the road and about 4 hours later my battery light starts flashing. The car starts bogging down and the lights flicker. I pull over to check the battery and it turns out the alternator ground split in half (I found that out later). I'm on a fairly small highway an hour south of Ely,NV. It starts to rain and is getting dark. I call my dad and he offers to drive the 8 hours from Boise to pick me up with a trailer.

I'm 15 miles south of a small town (Lund, NV) and in a dirt lot. I decide to try and bump start it. I end up about 300ft off the highway (the small highway), in the dark, in the rain, on a dirt road. One of the hardtop latches is broken and it doesn't fit right so the doors won't open without the windows cracked. I decide to flag someone down to help me bumpstart it because I almost got it to start last time. The first guy I flagged down said he wouldn't help me but he would give me a ride. He seemed extremely sketchy so I didn't go with him. I go back to my car and realize that this sketchy old man told me he would send someone my way and I'm not visible from the highway so I start getting a little paranoid. I decide to flag someone down to help me push it back onto the highway because there was a little traffic flow, I felt it was safer that way. This guy pulls over and we try to push it up the dirt road to no avail. He was nice and offered me a ride to Ely. I accepted after calling my dad to let him know I'd be in Ely.

We get into Ely and I book a $35 room. It was nice to know I didn't have to wait in a miata for 8 hours while getting rained on in cold weather on some sketchy dirt road. I got a warm meal at a nearby diner, took a shower, watch some tv and get a good 2.5 hours of sleep.

My dad gets there and we head for the Miata and it takes about 3 hours to get it loaded up. We tried jumping it and of course it dies after idling 30 seconds so we tow it back up to the highway because there's an incline that will make the trailer more level. The trailer isn't exactly slammed car friendly. We end up getting it loaded by (carefully) pulling the miata with the van and a tow cable up the ramps.

The rest of the trip was uneventful. We had breakfast and then he slept while I drove home. We picked up an alternator and the way and that night we discovered that the ground had split and the alternator fried.

I'm visiting my brother in Costa Mesa again. There was a lot going on last weekend but I wasn't able to get the time of so I was pretty bummed about that. I figured that drift events/car meets are only perks, the reason I was visiting was to see my brother and have a good time in the nice weather so I decided that this weekend would work.

I hopped on Zilvia last night to see if there was anything going on this weekend. I found an s-chassis meet that wasn't too far away so my brother and I figured we would stop by.

My brother's roommate was picking up a car for his sister and she lives in Florida so he asked me to go along and check it out. She picked out a manual Subaru Forester XT. Not a bad choice. As expected with any 2007 Subaru, it was flawless. The reason I'm writing about this is Jared and I were a little late to the meet so we didn't have much time to browse around. We did one sweep of the lot as the awards were being given and then we left. Here are a few shots I took:

The heartbreaker 610. This car ties my favorite car at the show with a car that will be posted later. This makes me want to follow through with my idea of a miata on longchamps for a daily.

My brother really liked this vert. I can't blame him.

This guy was already pulling away as we were coming around to the back of the lot. I really like the look of this white hatch on purple SA03's.

This hatch works for me. The picture kind of makes it look weird, but it's very clean.

SCCA Drift School/Event - August 14

A few weekends ago, SCCA hosted the first drift event in Boise (the previous events have been in Twin Falls). It was very successful and everybody have a good time. I saw an insane amount of improvement in everyone. The course layout was great as well. They had a "donut cone," which was just a cone set up for drivers who have little to no experience in drifting to get controlled circles down. The actual course had two set ups. One route for beginners/low hp cars and one route for more advanced drivers/higher hp cars. I would start out on the beginners course because my stock KA couldn't handle the first two turns and then switch to the advanced course half-way through once I had momentum.

The Swellers recently played in Boise and played my favorite song by them, "This is My Everest." Nick, the vocalist, told me about the meaning behind that song. It was about a car crash that happened in Twin Falls, ID four years ago. I thought he was joking at first since we were in Idaho. It was true. A pickup truck and trailer veered left off the road at speed then sharply right, right in front of them on the freeway. It was around a bend where Utah turns into Idaho. The truck rolled several times and the tour manager driving the van stood on the brakes and pulled the wheel into him for leverage. They all jumped out at the wreck and saw the driver in the truck. They pulled him out and thought everyone was safe but Nick looked back at the truck and saw another body in it. A blue arm was hanging out the window. They all tried to get him out as the police, ambulance, and life flight came. Nick had to hold the person down as he was convulsing. After they had rescued him from the truck life flight had taken him away. The paramedics told Nick that he was getting better but they never really knew the outcome. I found it amazing that the album "My Everest" was essentially named after something that happened to the band in Idaho, my home state.

We were putting my new PBM spacers (get them, they are rad) on the sti and coilovers on a friend's audi on the day of Hellaflush V and pete says "Hey, hellaflush pics are already up". This is the first event Idaho has ever had. It's a huge step for the drift scene here. I'm excited to get the s14 out there... once it's running again.

BoiseDrift - Demo Day Teaser by InSepsis

So over the weekend, we trailered Josh's car and our friend Dan's Miata out to Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, ID. It's about a 2 hour drive, so not that bad. The staff was very welcoming and is very excited about BoiseDrift.

The first half of the day we had the track to ourselves. In the first five minutes, Josh bent an inner tie rod. We bent it back. About an hour or two later, as you can see in the video, he had more trouble. He ended up blowing his ignition fuse. We put the "anti-skid" fuse in it's place and that worked fine.

After that we went into town for some pizza. When we came back, the drivers for that night's races had already showed up. We felt pretty V.I.P. Our cars were in the first slots and we all received free admission and pit passes. During intermission, we put on a demo for the crowd. They were loving it. It was a great weekend and a huge milestone for BoiseDrift.
